During my last two years of school, 11th and 12th grade, I was part of the Innovation Academy program. The Innovation Academy’s purpose is to help students find their own. It is a program that empowers students to lead real-world projects that serves a community. Being part of the Innovation Academy has provided to me endless opportunities to express myself in order to find my passion. Not only this, but it has given students the opportunity to work together and apply communication and collaboration skills throughout time, thus showing massive growth in these skills along with other important ones. This program helped and taught me to become more independent and be able to overcome any challenges that get in the way.
INDEPENDENT PROJECT
The Independent Project is one of the courses I take in the Innovation Academy Program. In this course, I was given the opportunity to experiment my passion for photography and focus on different types like landscape, architectural, and street photography. Not only was I focusing on the art of photography, but I also had to meet up with experts that would give me constant feedback on the pictures I was taking so that I could, later on, apply this to my next pictures. Through these different types of photography, I've been able to learn and use various skills that have helped me grow as a photographer and that have allowed me to be creative with the stories I want to show through my pictures.
I'm currently working on an internship where I take the role of being the photographer for a musician: Moncho Berry. This internship gives me the opportunity of seeing how a photographer's job works in real life and the many things one has to handle such as placing meetings, agreeing on a photo session date, processing and editing pictures, and meeting with the people to show the end result. So far, this internship has allowed me to gain the skills of talking to others, contacting people I don't know, and working collaboratively to get where we want to get.
